This technology works as follows: In nuclear medicine, radionuclides unstable atoms that emit radiation spontaneously are used to diagnose and treat disease. Radionuclides are purified and compounded like other drugs to form radiopharmaceuticals. This substance it can injected, orally ingest or inhaled as gas.

Week #2: Nuclear Medicine
According to http://explorehealthcareers.org /en/Career/31/Nuclear_Medicine _Technologist #Tab=Overview, the nuclear medicine technologist is a highly specialized health care professional who prepares and administers these radiopharmaceuticals as well as others medications to patients. Using specialized equipment, the nuclear medicine technologist monitors the characteristics and functions of tissues or organs in which the radiopharmaceuticals localize. Abnormal areas show higher or lower concentrations of radioactivity than normal. Nuclear Medicine technologist may also operate computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanners that are used in conjunction with nuclear medicine procedures.
One of the reasons of why I like this profession it is because is a direct impact of help to people. The nuclear medicine is a new technology for detect different diseases. Working in this, it is an opportunity to help others in the search of their exact diseases. It is the one of the most specific and accurate technology on this moment.
